Director’s Emeritus

Robert Hettrick 

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, October 7th, 1930.
Interested in trains and transit as far back as I can remember.
Joined the Cincinnati Railroad Club while a college student, now retired, single, living in Everett, Washington. The past two summers served as a volunteer docent with the National Park Service and Rails Program on the Empire Builder and the Coast Starlight.

Experience

Electrical engineer with more than 40 years of experience in the design, construction, maintenance and operation of railroad and rapid transit communication and signal systems, with the Pennsylvania Railroad, 1953 to 1963, Milwaukee Road, 1963 to 1972, Norfolk and Western, 1972 to 1976, and finally with the Ralph M. Parsons Company Transportation Group (formerly De Leuw Cather and Company), 1976 to 1996. This last experience included work on Amtrak’s Northwest Corridor.

Hans Mueller

My involvement with All Aboard Washington started as one of the nuclei of activists helping to organize it (under it’s former name, The Washington Association of Rail Passengers) during the 1980-1981 period.  I have been involved in transportation all my life, namely with airline work. 

Despite my career work, I was well aware of the social and environmental benefits of rail transportation, and how that has been neglected by state and national governments, and this has made me an advocate for rail transportation. 

I was the treasurer of The Washington Association of Rail Passengers since its incorporation through 2001.  I was also the membership chair and meeting organizer through that period.  Since that time I have undertaken the unspecified duties of the financial secretary.

Since 1988 I have also been a Board member of NARP, and have attended most of the semi-annual meetings of that Board.
